There are four core stages in Siril that you can utilize to process your images, starting with Calibration for removing unwanted patterns or artifacts, followed by Stacking to reduce noise by combining multiple images into a single one. The next crucial step is Enhancement, which is a combination of techniques to improve clarity using color calibration, deconvolution, and others, stretching out as much fine detail as possible.
Lastly, being able to handle SER files—a specialized format for capturing the sun, moon, and planets—Siril can extract information from FITS containers, which may contain valuable scientific data. Having said all this, there’s a steep learning curve that beginners have to contend with at the start. Also, the UI could be improved for a more streamlined and intuitive experience.
